Privacy Policy

Where you go, who you meet, when you sleep and what you look at is the most personal dataset you own. TempusBack is built so that we cannot see it.

Last updated 15 October 2026 · Applies to the TempusBack iOS app and tempusback.com

The short version. TempusBack has no account, no sign-up and no email address to give. There are no servers and no database, because there is nothing to put in one. Everything the app reads is processed on your iPhone and stays on your iPhone.

Our App Store privacy label says Data Not Collected. That is not a technicality: there is nowhere for your data to go.

The only personal data we hold is any email you send us.

01

Who we are

This policy is issued by TempusBack (“we”, “us”). For anything in it, write to support@tempusback.com.

Where the GDPR applies, we are the data controller for the one thing you choose to send us: any email you write to us. We are not a controller or processor of the activity data inside the app, because that data never reaches us.

02

What the app reads on your device

TempusBack builds your weekly audit from four signals your iPhone already records. Each one requires your explicit permission, each is read through Apple's own frameworks, and each is processed locally:

  • Screen Time. Which categories and apps took your hours, read through Apple's Screen Time framework. Apple runs this inside a sealed, read-only sandbox: the data is available to the app for analysis and cannot be exported out of it.
  • Places. Coarse location, used to tell home from work from elsewhere so time blocks can be labelled. TempusBack uses cell and Wi-Fi positioning rather than continuous GPS.
  • Sleep and activity. Read from Apple Health so the audit knows when your day started and ended. TempusBack reads these values; it does not write to Health.
  • Calendar. Event times and titles, used to line up what you planned against what actually happened.

All four are combined into your audit on the device. None of it is transmitted to us, to a server of ours, or to any third party.

03

What we never do

  • No account and no sign-up in the app. It never asks for your email address, phone number or advertising identifier.
  • No upload of your activity, location, health, calendar or screen data: there is no endpoint to upload it to.
  • No selling, renting or sharing of personal data. Ever, for any price.
  • No advertising, no ad SDKs, no cross-app tracking, no App Tracking Transparency prompt because there is nothing to track.
  • No use of your data to train any model, ours or anyone else's.
  • No profiling or automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
04

How the AI insights work

On iPhones that support Apple Intelligence, TempusBack uses Apple's on-device foundation models to read your week and write the verdict in plain language. The model runs on your phone. Your week is never sent anywhere to be analysed, and no part of the analysis happens on a server, whether ours, Apple's or anyone else's.

On iPhones without Apple Intelligence, you still get the full audit, the leaks and the plan, generated by the app's own algorithms, also on device.

If we ever introduce processing that leaves the device (for example Apple's Private Cloud Compute), we will say so here, in the App Store privacy label and in the app before it ships, and you will be able to decline it. We will not quietly change where your data is processed.

05

Permissions, and how to withdraw them

Every permission is optional. The app degrades gracefully: refuse one and you lose that slice of the picture, not the app. You can change your mind at any time in iOS Settings:

  • Screen Time: Settings → Screen Time → App & Website Activity, and Settings → TempusBack.
  • Location: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → TempusBack.
  • Health: Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → TempusBack.
  • Calendar: Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars → TempusBack.
  • Notifications: Settings → Notifications → TempusBack.

Withdrawing a permission stops future collection immediately. Anything already computed stays on your device until you delete it or the app.

06

Subscriptions and purchases

Subscriptions and the lifetime unlock are sold and processed by Apple through your Apple Account. We never see or handle your name, address, card details or any other payment information. Apple gives us aggregated, anonymised sales and subscription reports: numbers of units by country and period, not people.

Apple's handling of that transaction is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, not by this one.

07

Crash reports and diagnostics

TempusBack contains no third-party analytics, no crash-reporting SDK and no attribution SDK. The only diagnostics we can ever receive are Apple's own, and only if you have opted in on your device under Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements → Share iPhone Analytics and Share With App Developers.

When that is on, Apple may share crash logs and aggregated performance statistics with us through App Store Connect. Apple aggregates and de-identifies this before we see it, we cannot tie it to you, and turning it off in Settings stops it at any time.

08

Where your data lives, and how to delete it

Your audit history is stored in the app's own container on your iPhone, protected by iOS file encryption and your device passcode. There is no cloud copy on our side.

To delete everything: delete the app. iOS removes the container and every audit in it. The app also lets you clear your history from within Settings without uninstalling.

If you use encrypted iCloud device backups, a copy of the app's data may be inside that backup. That backup belongs to you and is governed by Apple; we have no access to it and no way to read it.

09

Children

TempusBack is a general-audience app and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). The app collects no personal data from anyone, children included.

10

Your rights under GDPR and UK GDPR

If you are in the EU, the EEA or the UK, you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict and object to processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability.

In practice, those rights apply to your device rather than to us: we hold no copy of your activity data, so there is nothing for us to export, correct or erase, and no way for us to identify you. You exercise the substance of those rights directly, by withdrawing a permission, clearing your history, or deleting the app.

We hold personal data in one case only: an email you send us, processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering you (Article 6(1)(f)). Write to support@tempusback.com to access, export or delete it. Support email is kept no longer than 24 months.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.

11

California and other US state privacy laws

The only personal information we collect is an email you choose to send us. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act, and we have not done so in the preceding twelve months. There is therefore no "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" process to run; to know or delete what we hold, write to support@tempusback.com. The same holds under the comparable laws of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah and Texas.

This website

tempusback.com sets no cookies and embeds no advertising trackers, pixels or social widgets. It measures visits in two privacy-friendly ways. Neither identifies you or stores anything on your device, so there is no cookie banner.

  • Vercel Web Analytics. Counts page views and which site you came from, using anonymised data and no cookies. It is provided by Vercel Inc. (United States) under its data processing agreement, which covers transfers outside the EU with the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
  • Link counts. Our short links for each platform (such as tempusback.com/ig) add one to a running total for that platform. We keep only these totals, never who clicked.

When you tap a download button, our host works out your country from your IP address to open the App Store of your country. Only the country code is used, and nothing is stored.

Our hosting provider, Vercel Inc., processes standard server logs (IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user agent) for the short period needed to serve pages and defend against abuse. That is the provider's technical necessity, not data we collect, use or retain for our own purposes. Vercel is based in the United States and processes these logs under its data processing agreement, which covers transfers outside the EU with the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

13

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page. Any change that widens what the app reads, or moves processing off your device, will also be announced in the app and reflected in the App Store privacy label before it takes effect, never retroactively.
